California

The California Department of Food and Agriculture reports that there has been a resurgence of Virulent Newcastle Disease in Southern California. The below quarantine remains in effect. There is no end date.

Due to the Virulent Newcastle Disease (VND) Regional Quarantine in the state of California the United States Postal Service is updating our alert to no longer allow shipments of birds (all),

hatching or embryonated eggs into or out of zip codes 90000-93599.

VND, formerly known as Exotic Newcastle Disease, is a serious, highly contagious viral disease that can affect poultry and other birds.  It is important that all commercial and non-commercial poultry owners maintain effective barriers to mitigate the risk of VND. VND is a nearly-always fatal respiratory infection in poultry for which there is no cure.

The Postal Service ban includes the State of California quarantine area and includes other Postal areas that could potentially transport birds, hatching or embryonated eggs.

This quarantine is effective immediately across the following affected Districts.

• San Diego
• Los Angeles
• Santa Ana
• Sierra Coastal

Olive Station, 2683 N Orange Olive Rd, 92857, will be closed until further notice due to extensive water damage.

Retail and P.O. Box operations are impacted. Customers are asked to conduct business and P.O. Box mail pick-up at the Orange Main Office.

– Orange Post Office, 1075 N Tustin St., 92863-9998. Window service hours: Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Customers are reminded to bring proper photo ID in order to obtain their mail.

With the reduction of high winds and the containment of wildfires in California, all offices in California that were affected are now open for business as normal. Power has been restored and any evacuated offices have returned to their home office.

The Priority Mail Express embargo for the 949, 954 and 955 ZIP Code areas is also lifted and was effective Monday, Nov. 4.

Virginia

Washington Post Office, 389 Main St., Ste. B, 22747 — Retail and PO Box services will be suspended at close of business Sept. 13. Services are being temporarily relocated until a new Post Office is operational. Washington PO Box services will be relocated to the Sperryville Post Office, 43 Main St., 22740, effective Sept.14.

The Sperryville Post Office has 24-hour lobby access and retail service hours will be temporarily increased for customer convenience. Retail hours during the suspension are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Items requiring a signature or parcels that cannot be delivered may be picked up at the Sperryville Post Office. Customers can also manage packages and redelivery using Informed Delivery. Sign up for this free feature at www.informeddelivery.com.

In addition, Washington Post Office customers can access retail services at Flint Hill Post Office, 664F Zachary Taylor Hwy, 22627. Retail hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon. The lobby is accessible 24 hours daily.

Richmond

Ebony Post Office, 23845 — Closed due to structural damage. A mobile retail unit is on site for customers to pick up their mail and conduct retail transactions. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon.

Hartfield Post Office, 23071 — Closed due to a vehicle accident that damaged the building located at 11 Grafton Church Rd. Customers can pick up PO Box mail from a mobile unit on site. All other operations have been relocated to Locust Hill Post Office, 5924 General Puller Highway, 23092.

Maryland

Burkittsville Post Office, 8 E Main Street, 21718 — Closed indefinitely due to structural damage caused by a fire on Dec. 29, 2019. There were no postal employees on duty at the time of the fire. Mail deliveries will continue as normal.

All retail operations and PO Box service at the Burkittsville Post Office will be moved to the Jefferson Post Office at 3702 Jefferson Pike, 21755. Hours: Monday- Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon.

Riverdale Post Office, 6411 Baltimore Ave., 20737 ─ Temporarily closed for repairs beginning July 22. The repair project is expected to take approximately two weeks. Customers can visit Kenilworth Post Office, 6270 Kenilworth Ave., for retail services. Customers with PO Boxes at the Riverdale Post Office will be able to pick up PO Box mail at the Kenilworth Post Office.

Oklahoma

• Moffett Post Office, 74946 — Closed due to safety concerns. All operations have been moved to Roland Post Office, 101 Davis Ln., 74954. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
• Webbers Falls, 116 W. Commercial St., 74470 — Closed due to safety concerns. All operations have been moved to Gore Post Office, 402 N. Main St., 74435. Hours: Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. Closed Saturday and Sunday.

Massachusetts

Allston Post Office, 12134 — This office will be temporarily closed until further notice due to facility issues impacting customer service, effective close of business Dec. 13. Delivery operations will be temporarily relocated to Boston General Mail Facility, 25 Dorchester Ave., 02205. Allston PO Box customers can pick up their mail at the Brighton Post Office, 424 Washington St., 02135. Mail held for Allston customers will be located at the Brighton Post Office. Window and mail pickup hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

For retail services, customers can visit these additional locations:

• Soldiers Field Post Office, 117 Western Ave., Boston, 02163. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Closed Saturday. 
• Harvard Square Post Office, 125 Mt. Auburn St., Cambridge, 02138. Hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Cambridge Post Office, 770 Mass. Ave., 02139. Hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Operations have been moved to the Hopkinton Post Office, 5 Cedar St., 01748. Retail and mail pickup hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Kendall Square Post Office, 238 Main St., 02142 ― Closed. Customers can pick up their mail at Central Square Post Office, 770 Massachusetts Ave., 02139. Hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Minnesota
